Fleetmark soaks up the sun

In a bid to reduce power costs and minimise the impact on the environment, Fleetmark has installed solar systems and more than 2,000 LED lights over its sites in Australia. The 100kW solar system is being rolled out over two sites in two different states. The project, which is expected to be completed in early 2019, will cut onsite grid electricity use by about 30%, aiming to significantly reduce the company’s annual energy bills.

The massive job, while driven by the potential for energy and cost savings, is also about using upgraded LED lighting to improve factory safety and visibility. “A large percentage of the total energy consumption at our sites are consumed by the twin spray booth ovens, which are in operation daily,” said FM Director, Dean Coates.

“That’s a very good environmental outcome, but it’s also helping to improve the operational efficiency of each facility.”

At one of the facilities, Fleetmark’s head office in Dandenong South, Victoria (pictured), a 100kW solar system has already been installed, due to be commissioned by Christmas.

“We intend to utilize additional carbon-neutral technologies to make Fleetmark as environmentally friendly as possible moving into the future”
